The legendary Leeds party heads to The Crescent for a special fundraiser for MAP CHARITY, based in Leeds. All profits to MAP, who are fighting against the threat of developers, in order to purchase their building and retain their inspiring creative educational programme. As music promoters working with an independant venue in a city seemingly increasingly full of luxury developments, we can really relate to their cause, and hope you can too.
Cosmic Slop have developed a reputation for eclectic selections and intimate limited parties, often with special unannounced guests (previously including Mr Scruff, Gilles Peterson, Floating Points), and is now regarded as one of the most distinctive parties in the UK (in part due to its handcrafted sound system, alongside their attention to detail). Here every conceivable genre of music can follow the next, from dub, jazz, afrobeat, dancehall, house to psyched out guitar tracks. Check out their resident advisor feature here:
Cosmic Slop is based at Hope House in Leeds, and supports the charity MAP. MAP raises awareness around social issues in Leeds, and provides educational and creative courses for young people at risk of exclusion, in a unique sustainable model that prepares a new generation of young creatives for tomorrow. However, Hope Foundry, where MAP is based, is under threat from developers; so in order to protect their future they are raising £1.2 million to buy their building and create a permanent home for their visionary programme.
