Gary Stewart is a Scottish singer/songwriter who now resides in York after cutting his musical teeth on the Leeds music scene over the last 15 years. The Left-hander writes songs about love, paranoia and people’s misfortunes and delivers them with a Celtic flair and earthy guitar style reminiscent of Paul Simon and John Martyn. The Perthshire lad’s music is influenced in the main by the aforementioned Simon, Martyn and also by James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac and Carole King.

The Scottish songsmith has released two albums and two E.P’s to date. His debut effort, ‘Boy Cries Wolf’ received favourable reviews from This Is Fake D.I.Y and R2 and his songs have been played on Radio 2 by Steve Lamacq and Janice Long. In October 2018, Stewart will release his third album,’Oh My Weary World’, recorded the same way his debut album was-with the multi-instrumentalist playing all the parts on the Album.

You can hear the first whisper from Gary’s new album here!

When not playing his own music Gary can be seen drumming for Hope & Social. He also runs The Gaslight Club in Leeds, a weekly acoustic night that has been going strong for ten years.
