Following the eastern calendar, New Year falls on the 13th January and is celebrated throughout Ukraine with a variety of festivities called ‘Malanka’. Tonight you’ll have the chance to party and help bring in a happy new year for everyone.

The Ukrainians have been playing their particular brand of Ukrainian music for three decades, entertaining crowds on the world folk & roots stages. With 8 albums and over a thousand gigs, there’s plenty of high energy tracks to choose from, and you’ll hear a selection of their best songs (plus a few surprises).

From East to East specialise in playing covers of classic uptempo folk songs from eastern and baltic sources. You’ll hear tracks that stretch from the Baltic to the Adriatic and Black Seas, all done with dance-ability and authenticity.

Soma perform roots music based on eastern sources. Using ethnic instruments, they create a spiritual atmosphere reminiscent of the forests of eastern europe.

During the evening we’ll bring in a few malanka traditions, and some special guests. Check out Malanka traditions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malanka
