Welcome to a Say Owt party celebrating Hannah Davies’ first collection of poems, Dolls. Part of York Literature Festival 2023. Dolls is a fierce and tender collection about womanhood, motherhood, feminism and survival. Hannah is a spellbinding storyteller and her writing is warm, lyrical and bold.

At his monthly session down The Golden Ball, Rowan found his perfect musical companions. Multi-instrumentalist Jack Woods rips on guitar, banjo, fiddle and more, bassist Ollie Howland and one of a seemingly revolving cast of drummers lay it down. Leaving Rowan to bash the crap out of an acoustic guitar and shake the songs from his soul. Sometimes they’re comical, sometimes rousing and melodic, often tends and always heartfelt, Rowan really is a great songwriter and this is a wicked band.

Folk music’s legendary triumvirate, masters of flute, fiddle, song and guitar, Mike McGoldrick, John Doyle and John McCusker return to bring you their own blend of top-class folk songs, tunes and charming bonhomie.
These chaps have previously shared stages and recording studios with everyone from Bob Dylan and Mark Knopfler to Paul Weller, Joan Baez and Linda Thompson, Mike, John & John are a rare musical treat you’ll savour for a very long time.

Corella is a refreshing indie quartet from Manchester, made up of Joel Smith (Vocals), Ben Henderson (Bass & Vocals), Jack Taylor (Guitar) and James Fawcett (Drums). Their signature catchy melodic hooks, propulsive multi-layered guitar riffs, and reminiscent lyrics, relay a coming-of-age story of their own.

Two of the hottest blues rock acts have joined forces to embark on what promises to be one of the most exciting co-headline tours in recent years. Critically acclaimed 5-piece roots/blues rockers The Commoners embark on a 15-date UK tour in April 2023 with the UK’s King of slide guitar, Troy Redfern.

We start the new year properly with the return of some absolute dons; the York debut of a rising star; and a battle of bass between two local crews – on Herbal Mafia’s recently upgraded sound system in room 2!

Revisiting the BBC Home Srvice’s Radio Ballads, hosted by Ewan MacColl along with Charles Parker and Peggy Seeger in the 50s and 60s.
Expect to be entertained and enlightened by songs of joy, love, hardship and humour.

His new record sees Willie dive headfirst into a style of music he has always loved, but that never previously found its way into his own songs. It’s a low-slung, sensual ‘70s-style jam which simultaneously calls to mind Sly and The Family Stone, Philly soul, ‘Midnite Vultures’-era Beck and a little OutKast.
