The 2020 T-shirt dismantles a photo of the entrance to The Crescent, using various cuts along existing angles and imposed geometry, with repositioning to break up the familiar but still create a form with elements that are recognisable if you look closely.
It takes inspiration from The International Typographic Style, also known as the Swiss Style, is a graphic design style that emerged in Russia, the Netherlands, and Germany in the 1920s and was further developed by designers in Switzerland during the 1950s. The International Typographic Style has had profound influence on graphic design as a part of the modernist movement, impacting many design-related fields including architecture and art. It emphasises cleanness, readability, and objectivity. The use of horizontal halftones break up the clean lines within themselves allowing something less bold and more fuzzy, like the feel of old video footage, and this contrasts with the solid lettering.
