York’s plant swap event, created by houseplant lovers, for houseplant lovers. A chance to socialise with other people who are passionate about plants.
The focus of this not-for-profit event is on all things HOUSEPLANT!
Bring along your baby indoor plants, rooted cuttings and houseplant swaps to exchange for new plants. Here’s what you need to know:
- All plants must be healthy and free of pest or disease.
- Any plant you bring along to swap must have roots and be viable to grow. (Not just freshly cut off from your favourite plant that day.)
- Label your plants with both the plant’s name and your name. (This can be the common name you know it by if you’re not sure of the botanical name.)
- Bring as many plants to swap as you like but think about variety for your fellow houseplant lovers!
- On arrival, plants to swap will be checked in and exchanged for a receipt showing the total number of plants you have deposited. That is the same number of new plants you will then be able to take home with you at the end of the swap. E.g. 5 plants brought to swap = 5 plants to take home.
- The first hour will be all about checking your plants in, meeting other plant lovers and chatting about, well…..plants? The swap and prize draw will take place during the second hour.
- Any remaining plants at the end of the day will be donated to local charities and schools.
Every ticket for the event will be entered into the prize draw. There will be multiple prizes to be won on the day.
Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Edible York.
There will be a full bar, coffees and teas available at the Crescent Community Venue. Doors open at 13:00. Arrive then, or soon after, to enjoy all the fun!
