Dave Haslam made his DJing debut at the Haçienda in 1986. He played over 450 times at the legendary club, including on the last night the Haçienda was open; June 28th 1997.

He has since DJ’d worldwide, from Berlin to Detroit, Paris to Peru – and written five books, including ‘Life After Dark: A History of British Nightclubs & Music Venues’, and his autobiography ‘Sonic Youth Slept On My Floor’ (acclaimed by BBC 6 Music presenter Gilles Peterson as “the best book of 2018”).

His latest project is ‘Art Decades’, is a limited edition series of mini-books about subjects including Sylvia Plath, vinyl collecting, Courtney Love, and the artist Keith Haring.

After completing his PhD in History, John Moores decided to follow his real passion by forging a career as a music journalist. Writing as JR Moores, his work has been published by a range of prominent online and print platforms, including Noisey (Vice), Bandcamp Daily, Vinyl Me Please, Virgin Media, and The Guardian.

He is currently resident psych-rock columnist for both The Quietus website and Record Collector magazine. He has also dabbled in freelance editing, copywriting and playlist curation. John is currently writing a book on the history of “heaviness” in music from 1968 to the present day.
