Pauline Murray is still in fine voice – and attitude – and the band kick ass with raw performances of virtuosity, energy, poetry and passion that, frankly, leave many younger bands in the shade.

Inspired by Patti Smith and the Pistols but probably more in common with Buzzcocks and The Only Ones; Durham’s Penetration gave us not just a punk classic – 1977’s ‘Don’t Dictate’ – but much much more.

Punk? Post punk? Rock? Since reforming in 2001 Penetration have always been just themselves. Amen to that.
