This party features two bands of York residents from Chile, Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, and beyond.

York Latinos brings you the energetic beats of Salsa, a genre from Cuba and Puerto Rico known for its vibrant dance moves and rich musical heritage. Cumbia Collective invites you to experience the rhythms of Cumbia, a genre from Colombia that blends indigenous traditions and has ramified across the whole continent with different identities.

In many Spanish-speaking countries, “candela” means “candle,” symbolising light and excitement. Colloquially, it can also describe something thrilling or intense: ‘Dale Candela’.

Candela Fest is a celebration for everyone to join in the fun from Latin America. Whether you’re familiar with the music or new to it, enjoy a night of music, dance, and culture with the vibrant Latin American community of York.
