Encouraging the Loony is a Piano/drums duo playing everything from jazz/the Beatles/Queen/Led Zeppelin and Rachmaninov, mostly in a hectic and silly style delivered with a good dollop of Monty Python-esque humour! Singing along and heckling always welcome, and nobody has yet been known to leave a Loony gig without an ear-to-ear grin! Motto: “More is more!”

The Dixie Bandits are the latest Traditional jazz band to be formed in York, that they know about. Made up of some of the finest jazz musicians from Acomb they came together in December 2018 due to their joint love of the early New Orleans recordings of the 1920’s. Even though they are still in their early stages of playing together they couldn’t think of a better way to make their debut performance than to take part in this fund raising event.
