The top three bass heavy promotions in York go head to head in an epic sound clash! All the crews have formidable reputations and a strong squad of DJs, who will be hardest on the dancefloor!?
Expect to hear all styles of bass music across 2 rooms – from hiphop and dub to grime, trap, dubstep, UKG and bassline all the way to jungle and drum&bass and beyond!
Hosted by the legend Keon!
All for just £3 advance (plus BF) only available online, or £5 OTD!
This is predicted to be a roadblock so get a ticket or arrive early!
The winning crew will be decided by your charity donations. There will be three buckets at the bar with the names of each crew and their chosen charity on. The most raised at the end of the night will take the sound clash crown!
Chances are you have been to one or more of these crew’s parties but here’s the lowdown on all of them:
Hailing from York University, the Breakz DJs crew have undergone many transformations in their 20 years of promoting underground electronic music to students and locals. From funky house and liquid dnb origins to the 2008-2012 bass music explosion which saw them bring Chase & Status, Benga, Grooverider, DJ Friction and many more to the city. Since then they have moved onto a diverse music policy spanning all electronic dance music. They have been a driving force for York’s underground scene which spawned the likes of:
The Herbal Mafia, a bunch of students went native and made their home here. By building a sound system, a network of DJs and MCs and establishing a local monthly event, these guys have consistently introduced the best in hiphop, drum&bass and everything in between to York since 2006. They show no signs of slowing down, with Roni Size, Calibre, DJ Hype, Rusko and many more gracing their decks since their residency at The Crescent.
The youngest but perhaps the most infamous crew in the city: Bassmentality! They have become big players in the game after repeatedly selling out the now extinct Fibbers; with the likes of TQD, Darkzy and Holy Goof amongst many. Having lost their home after 8 years they went out in style with their last ever event held in Mansion headlined by the immense My Nu Leng. We have a feeling they will be back before long though, doing what they do best, destroying the dance!
