We are delighted to welcome back one of the UK’s best original reggae / dub bands to York!

State of Satta are a 7-piece live reggae & dub fusion band based in the north of England brought together by a collective love of dub and reggae. The band fuse the rhythms of one-drop and steppas, bone shaking bass lines and resonant vocals to create a distinct groove driven sound. More info below….

State of Satta formed in late 2020; released their first live single and video ‘Bring out the Fiya’ not long after in early 2021, garnering 15,000 views on Facebook within its first 3 days. Followed by their debut EP ‘We Still Move’ later that year with a special guest appearance from Mungo’s Hifi MC, Tom Spirals. Their debut album is due out this year.

Whilst still being a young band, the players contained within it have a wealth of experience playing alongside and within Stig of the Dub, Digital Foundation and Radio Riddler. The band have quickly established a name for themselves over the last 3 years touring the UK and on the festival circuit; with their energetic stage shows, big bass lines and beautifully crafted multi-lingual melodies.

They’ve shared the stage with Madness, The Wailers, Mungo’s HiFi, Dub Pistols, Zion Train, Chainska Brassika, Dutty Moonshine Big Band and The Undercover Hippy to name just a few.

With radio play from David Rodigan on BBC Radio1Xtra, and main stage festival performances scheduled for 2024 at Balter, Beat-Herder, Kelburn Garden Party, Kendal, Nozstock and more -they are taking the UK live reggae scene by storm. A force to be reckoned with and guaranteed to bring joy to reggae lovers of all generations.
