Sometimes taken for a joker for his brilliant parodies, Otway is a very talented songwriter but also about having fun – still scampering around like a untrained puppy, seeking – and receiving – adoration from the crowd, with Willi, only two year his elder, taking the parental role – raising his eyebrow and slipping in dry, witty comments in failed attempts to flatten his enthusiasm.

A night packed with humour, then. Bloody great songs interspersed with drum pads in pockets, a Theremin, a bendy double-neck guitar, bumps and grinds and, of course, ‘Cor Baby That’s Really Free’ which reached no 27 in the UK charts.

And ‘Beware Of The Flowers (Cause I’m Sure They’re Gonna Get You Yeh)’ which, as John explains, “you wouldn’t realise was as brilliant as it actually is”. This is probably because In a poll of the best music lyrics ever it came in at number 7, just one place behind McCartney’s Yesterday (!).
