Since 2014, Say Owt have been hosting raucous poetry slams where performers get 3 mins to wow an audience. They’ve become the mainstay of the York community. Whether you love the written (and spoken) word or are just curious, this high energy event features a host of poets each with a unique style. Highly Commended in the York Culture Awards, this will be Say Owt’s first slam for over two years and will prove to be a banging night out.

Unfortunately our headline Malaika Kegode has had to pull out due to Covid but we have an alternative featured performer in Genevieve Carver!

Born in York, now a resident of steel city Sheffield, Geneveive has performed at Shambala festival, Edinburgh Fringe, The Roundhouse, The Royal Albert Hall, Ilkley Literature Festival and Banff Mountain Book Festival in Canada. She’s released several collections, and makes amazing work with musicians exploring the magic moments where music and poetry meet. Her poetry is packed with insight of growing up reversing gender stereotypes and a lyrical love for music and connection.
