Another cracker to look forward to in April when one man electro-psych machine brings his TVAM project to York for the first time after the release of debut album Psychic Data. ‘Hazy psychodramatic atmosphere that brings to mind proto-electro punks Suicide, the swaying noise of MBV, and the brooding nostalgia of Boards Of Canada. Quite simply this is a superb debut album’

Blackbeard’s Tea Party + Punch The Sky
Traditional songs and tunes are given a heavy rock edge with earth shattering riffs, playful arrangements and driving dance rhythms. Blackbeard’s Tea Party believe a live music show should be a spectacle for the eyes as well as the ears. Outlandish outfits, costume changes, DIY props, unhinged stage antics and chaotic choreography all add up to an engaging, high-octane show that frequently leaves audiences cheering for more.
LAU
Kris Drever, Martin Green and Aidan O’Rourke formed Lau in 2005. A band steeped in traditional Scottish music but with an artistry unwilling to be confined by that. Lau are now four time winners of Best Group at the BBC Folk Awards, they’re new album, recorded by John Parrish arrives next month.
Kaia Kater + Crispin Halcrow
A Montreal-born Grenadian-Canadian, Kaia’s old-time banjo skills, jazz-fueled voice and deft song craft have garnered acclaim from NPR, CBC, Rolling Stone, BBC Music, and No Depression. Her 2016 release Nine Pin won a Canadian Folk Music Award and sent her on an 18-month touring journey from Ireland to Iowa. Kaia has just released her brilliant new album ‘Greanades’.
