Richard Dawson + Gwenifer Raymond – *SOLD OUT*
Richard Dawson, the black-humoured bard of Newcastle, will finally be coming back to York!
His 6th record, 2020, was an utterly contemporary state-of-the-nation study, a personal commentary for a tumultuous and bleak time. Here is an island country in a state of flux; a society on the edge of mental meltdown. This is England today.
Eliza Carthy & The Restitution
Describing herself simply as a “modern English musician”, Eliza Carthy herself is one of the most recognisable faces of the English folk revival. Her first “solo” album of traditional music in 14 years, Restitute is literally a homely affair, recorded as it was at Eliza’s home in the picturesque Robin Hood’s Bay, North Yorkshire.
New York Brass Band – Favela Fundraising All Ages Show – *SOLD OUT*
At the end of February, 8 members of NYBB will fly out to Rio to spend 10 days working with Favela Brass. They will take with them a stock of new instruments and Stu our sax player take his repair kit from his workshop. The Sunday afternoon family gig at The Crescent on 9th February is a fundraiser for Favela Brass.
Junior Brother, Wolf Solent + owl.
His strange stories unfold with reckless abandon upon an idiosyncratic Guitar and Foot Tambourine accompaniment, influenced as much by the avant-garde as music from the middle ages and his home place in rural Ireland.
