Bella Gaffney + Katie Spencer – *AT YSJ UNI THEATRE*
We’re chuffed to be programming our first concert at a brand new theatre on York St. John University campus, just near the SU on Lord Mayors Walk. Better still the show is with two good friends and extremely talented singer-songwriters Bella Gaffney (The Magpies) and Katie Spencer.
Luke Saxton + Rory Welbrock
It’s a bit of a York secret how magic singer-songwriter Luke Saxton is. Somehow. We’re delighted to be presenting a rare headline show with Luke and his accomplices. He has a vast catalog of lilting, pop-infused, 60’s and 70’s influenced records to pull from and very likely some new material and new arrangements to boot.
Dan Webster + Bella Gaffney
York singer-songwriter Dan Webster is central to so much of the good things that happen in folk and acoustic circles in our city.
He returns to The Crescent stage in October to play a show with his band.
Jim Ghedi (full band) – *A SEATED & DISTANCED SHOW*
Jim Ghedi hails from the South Yorkshire hills and although clearly well versed in the history of British folk music, he stands out as a potential torch bearer for a new generation of respectful yet experimental performers. ‘In The Furrow’s Of Common Place’ (Basin Rock, Jan 2021) lit up our lockdown gloom, it’s a terrific piece of work.
Blackbeard’s Tea Party Christmas Party w/ Dan Webster – *SOLD OUT*
Our favourite pirate-folk shanty-pants return for their much missed Xmas knees up at The Crescent.
Boasting a brand new line-up, new songs and a lot of festive ideas; this is a party we can all look forward to!
Irie Vibes: Dub Pistols (DJ Set)
Irie Vibes makes it long awaited return to The Crescent. Featuring a DJ set from Dub Pistols, plus Dub Defenders and of course the Irie Residents!
Houseplant Lovers: Social & Plant Swap
York’s plant swap event, created by houseplant lovers, for houseplant lovers. A chance to socialise with other people who are passionate about plants.
Perspex, The Black Lagoons, Eugene Gorgeous + J Halliday
Garage-y, post-punks The Black Lagoons are back in the building as part of a UK tour with our lost brothers Perspex. Two of the best bands to be birthed in York in the last five or so years off to spread the word.
John Otway
John Otway, then. Enigma, hilariously funny showman, comic genius and all-round musician. This show is on the run up to his 5000th show and is number 4856…
