We’re delighted to welcome old-time banjo and fi We’re delighted to welcome old-time banjo and fiddle duo @nora.brwn & @stephiecoleman to York for the first time in November. Nora Brown is the “brightest young star in old-time music” (Songlines), playing traditional music focused on southern Appalachian banjo and guitar. Stephanie is a master old-time fiddler, having recorded with and toured internationally over the last two decades with celebrated artists including trailblazing all-women string band Uncle Earl. Comprising of members hand picked by the founding member Daevid Allen following his intent that his mystical vision for a group be continued after his passing, 21st century Gong remains a psychedelic tour de force, constantly evolving and expanding its core sound.
1980’s indie-pop outfit The Primitives are comin 1980’s indie-pop outfit The Primitives are coming to play for us in November! The band released three albums of gently psychedelic fuzzy guitar pop and post-punk at the time, including monster hit ‘Crash’.

Singer-songwriter @dmarrinermusic Marriner brings her band to The Crescent for the first time in May, having previously appeared here as a member of Elles Bailey’s band. Demi was the winner of the Bob Harris Emerging Artist Award at the UK Americana Awards in 2021 and released her debut album last year. Then hot on the heels of their combined successes at the UK Blues Awards, @musicdommartin and @bluenationmusic are teaming for for a good old riff-fest here in November.
